History - Where is began

Following the 1985 strike the NUM attempted to change the Rule Book , which was unacceptable to the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire mineworkers. A ballot was arranged which resulted in a vote not to accept any changes to the Rule Book , hence the Union of Democratic Mineworkers was formed.
